Rare case of coil protrusion and infection after intravascular varicocele repair

Varicocele is a common condition characterized by dilation of the veins of the pampiniform plexus of the left testicle, affecting 15–20% of adolescents and adult men. Clinical manifestations include pain, decreased left testicular volume, infertility, and the presence of a mass in the form of dilated veins in the scrotum. In adolescents, one of the main indications for surgery today is the prevention of future infertility, but no proven efficacy of any conservative treatment has been described. Various surgical techniques for varicocele treatment have been proposed in the literature, including retroperitoneal, laparoscopic, inguinal, subinguinal, and X-ray surgical (embolization). Each technique has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this case report, we describe a relatively rare complication that arose after intravascular occlusion of the internal spermatic vein with a coil.
